From being a Syrian refugee in 2018, with a bachelor’s degree in medicine, to becoming a successful dermatologist in Germany with millions of social media followers, Doctor Yousef is a social media influencer like no other. In this exclusive interview, Doctor Yousef opens up about his life, journey, motivation and more.
Q1. Hi Doctor Yousef. For our readers and your followers, please share something about yourself .
As you have already indicated, my name is Yousef. I practise dermatology in Germany. I completed six years of medical school in Syria with an outstanding grade point average and arrived in Germany with only my diploma. After moving to Germany, I converted my medical certificate to German in 2018 and obtained the German Certificate of Amendment. During my two years as an orthopaedic surgeon, I refined my surgical abilities by caring for emergency patients and working nights.
Q2. What is your speciality as surgeon
I have come to the conclusion that shifting my focus to dermatology and cosmetology will allow me to have a much more successful and fulfilling career in this fascinating and amazing industry. I have experience with a wide variety of surgeries, including those for benign and malignant skin cancers, scar correction, and many more laser interventions for most skin problems (rosacea, hirsutism, warts, ageing, age spots, acne, keloid), botox filler, micro-needling, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for hair, and many more surgical and cosmetic skin interventions. I cover a wide range of subjects related to skin, hair, health, height, and contemporary cosmetic operations while following a number of different medical issues.
Q3. What inspired you to become active on social media , can you elaborate on that?
The phrase “Every optimist has a share” serves as the inspiration behind my life’s mantra. I believe in positivity, hard work, devotion, keeping a balance between my career as a doctor and its effect on others, persistence, and not giving up despite the fact that there are innumerable difficulties to overcome. I had a strong desire to properly convey my medical knowledge and experience to my audience, as well as to offer the best items at the most competitive prices on a global scale.
Q4. What is your current social media standing?
I carried on with my work on social media and even launched my own channel on YouTube. I was able to obtain more than one million members in less than a year. I currently have over 1.6 million subscribers on YouTube (@doctoryousef), over 400 thousand followers on Instagram (@doctor.yousef), over 1.1 million followers on Tiktok (@doctor.yousef), and over 1 million followers on Facebook (@doctor.youseff).
Q5. Despite your hardwork to become who you are today, who do credit this success to?
I have a strong bond with my parents and siblings. I put all of my success and accomplishments down to the support and love of my family, which I believe to be the single most important component of my life. I was provided with significant support by both of my parents, as well as by my wife and my brother. To tell you honestly, I would not have been able to accomplish this goal without their assistance.
Q6. What has been the most recent milestone as a surgeon?
Attending scientific conferences is something that has always piqued my interest because it allows me to further my knowledge, educate myself, and stay current on the latest recent therapies, equipment, technologies, and products. My most recent presentation was given alongside Professor Dr. med. Klaus Fritz at the most important conference in Germany.
Q7. What is the one advice, you would give your followers?
My life would be incomplete without the regular release of growth hormone and the mental challenge that comes with participating in sports. I encourage everyone of my followers to prioritise themselves and their physical activity by devoting at least half an hour of their day to it. This is also beneficial to one’s mental health.
Q8. How can we stay connected with you?
