Vedic science studies reality through the eyes and minds of realized sages. The practice came from India and the Vedas (texts) are brought to light by sages. This knowledge, however, isn’t only in relation to one field such as religion, but rather about many different aspects of life. Some of the information they contain relate to modern science especially natural law and consciousness. They also cover spirituality, music, cosmology, and health.
What is the basic premise of Vedic Science?
Vedic Science is all about knowledge and Veda, in Sanskrit, means “knowledge.” The premise behind Vedic Science is that there are many ways that we gain knowledge from the world that surrounds us. In essence, there are two types of knowledge: knowledge that we gain for ourselves, and knowledge imparted to us by others.
Seeing as life is fixed and we can’t experience it without limits, we are unable to gain ultimate knowledge without help from others. Vedic science posits that the modern scientific method is based on conjecture and trial-and-error. Because of this, modern science is constantly being revised as collective new knowledge is gained and collated.
In contrast to this is Vedic knowledge which is derived from perfect sages – ones who have ultimate knowledge. For example, the Vedas state that the Universe is 13.819 billion years old, and recent scientific evidence suggests that the Universe is 13.801 billion years old. The difference between the two is minimal and this seems to validify the claims of knowledge perpetuated by the Vedas.
As such, it is believed that everyone can access the truth of the Vedas and that is how Vedic science is notably inclusive. The knowledge contained within the texts is accessible to everyone. This is especially helpful to those who want to reach self-realization through meditation.
These are the primary aspects of Vedic Health
Diet and Nutrition
Instead of the general belief of the West that specific diets will work for everyone, the Vedic Science of Ayurveda believes that in order to find the healthiest possible diet it is necessary to look at the individual seeking to be healthier on both a physical and emotional level.
As such, it’s necessary that specific habits and foods are endorsed in order to balance the psychological needs of the individual. These adjustments are not excessive in nature, and small changes in eating habits will make a substantial difference.
According to the Vedic way of life, meditation isn’t something that needs to be done, but rather as something that always is being done. The mind is constantly occupied, and even in sleep it is thinking about something. In light of this, meditation is thus the process of centering mental energy in a manner that is elevating and enlightening. Meditation is a great way to destress on a daily basis, or as a way to enlarge your sense of self and reality.
Yoga is a principal which has a place in everyday life and isn’t just poses and postures. Through the alignment of the physical self, yoga allows the individual to get to know his or her divine nature. The reason for the poses, or the asana, is to grow perspective on the principle which is yoga and which focus on a deep and meaningful mind-body connection.
Vedic science is becoming increasingly popular as more people are intrigued by holistic approaches to general well-being and happiness. Rather than prescribing to western standards of medicine, a great number of people try to find the perfect balance between mind and body in order to achieve actualization.
