Treat Stomach Ulcer Symptoms with Mastic Gum for Ulcer Relief
Chios Gum Mastic is the resinous material obtained from the Pistacia lentiscus tree which is grown on the island
of Chios in Greece.
Traditionally used as a health food in Greece, a recent study reported to the New England Journal of Medicine supports
mastic’s contribution to gastrointestinal health.
Mastic Gum is the breakthrough product in the fight against stomach ulcers and their symptoms.
Mastic Gum is a natural resin from the
Pistacia lentiscus tree (an evergreen shrub from the pistachio tree family), which is found on the Island of Chios
in Greece. Helicobacter Pylori lives in the stomach of almost half of the world’s population. Given the opportunity
it will establish a chronic peptic ulcer and possibly lead to stomach cancer.
The World Health Organization now
consider this bacterium a carcinogen. Millions of people worldwide suffer from peptic ulcers, a condition which
can have a devastating effect on quality of life and lead to life-threatening disease. Standard treatment with antibiotics
can become prohibitive as the organism responsible for the ulcers, Helicobacter pylori, becomes more resistant
and new, more expensive drugs are needed to fight the bug.
Research at the University of Nottingham (late 1998) proved that mastic gum cures stomach ulcers which cause searing
pain and sometimes lead to cancer.
Now it has been proved that mastic gum known for centuries to have a protective effect on the stomach – kills even
resistant strains of H-pylori. In other studies, mastic gum provided symptomatic relief of ulcers, reduced the intensity
of gastric mucosal damage caused by anti-ulcer drugs and aspirin, and possessed antacid and cytoprotective qualities.
In several studies using mastic gum on patients with stomach ulcer symptoms, the original site of the ulcer was completely
replaced by healthy epithelial cells. The national press have referred to mastic gum as “The Miracle Cure.”
Side Effects and Drug Interactions
After centuries of extensive use in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries,
both as a dietary supplement and herbal remedy, no undesirable effects have ever been attributed to mastic gum.
The medical trials also showed mastic to have no side effects.
