Question for Dr. Leia: I have a question about using Bach’s Rescue remedy. I would like to try using it for stress and anxiety relief, but, do not know how to properly use it for this purpose.

Dr. Leia’s Answer: Bach Rescue Remedy is an excellent formula made out of these following flowers: Impatiens, Star of Bethlehem, Cherry Plum, Rock Rose, and Clematis.

Each of these flowers works synergistically together, meaning that the sum of the flowers are more powerful together then if used alone. As the name suggests, it is specifically formulated for stress, anxiety, trauma, emergencies, and other situations where you feel out of control or helpless to do anything in the situation.

It is a gentle, non-habit forming, non-toxic, natural remedy which balances and calms the body, mind, and emotions during stress. So, you have chosen the perfect natural remedy for your situation!

Bach Flower Rescue Remedy should be treated as a homeopathic remedy and not taken with food, but away from food. Usually, I recommend that it be taken on an empty stomach at least 20 minutes or one half hour before eating anything. If you have eaten a meal, then wait to take it at least one hour later. However, you cannot always control a traumatic situation or event, so if you have eaten, don’t worry and just take the remedy anyway.

Sometimes, the remedy works stronger and better if you haven’t eaten anything yet. Just drop a few drops (2-3 drops) into your mouth under the tongue. The base of the mouth under the tongue contains a blood vessel, which delivers the Bach flower Rescue Remedy directly into the blood stream when it is dropped under the tongue. This form of delivery of medications is considered sub-lingual, and it is a wonderful form of delivery into your body and in a very speedy manner.

Most homeopathics and flower remedies are used this way. For prevention, you might want to take the remedy 3-4 times per day, 20 minutes or so before each meal and at bedtime. If you still feel stressed out you can repeat the dosage as often as you like without any harmful side effects or overdoses.

It just might put you to sleep, though, so please don’t take it while driving or operating machinery.
