PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Relief with EFT

Providing relief to PTSD patients may not be easy, as it is a chronic mental disorder. It is often very difficult to determine the exact causes of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

PTSD can occur when an individual is subjected to events such as violent assault, extreme mental and physical torture, natural calamities such as earthquakes and tornadoes, terrorist bombings, plane crashes, road accidents or any other event that is accompanied by extreme fear and helplessness.

In the past, a number of US army personnel were diagnosed with PTSD during the Vietnam War, mainly due to the horrifying conditions of the war that they had to endure. The number of cases diagnosed at the time was so huge that physicians started referring to the disorder as ‘Vietnam Post Traumatic Stress Disorder’.

Curative Techniques

After the Vietnam War, many scientific studies were conducted to find a proper cure for patients suffering from PTSD. Various curative techniques have been developed since then including Hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic programming (NLP), but the most effective technique is probably EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). EFT is based on the premise that the human mind has an energy field, which is responsible for the emotions experienced by an individual. This energy field can get disrupted when the human mind is subjected to extraordinary events involving fear and helplessness. The disruption in the energy field leads to the development of various types of negative emotions such as those experienced by a PTSD patient. These negative emotions may cause patients to experience recurring and disturbing memories of the event, hallucinations, and the fear of being subjected to the event repeatedly.

EFT Process for PTSD

Post traumatic stress disorder signs found in patients suffering from PTSD can be substantially reduced by using EFT, which aims at balancing negative entries from the mind of the patients. It is also worthy to mention, the patient does not have to mentally relive every emotion and situation. The technique is a sort of mental acupuncture, which is performed by a trained PTSD expert. The technique is often combined with hypnotics to map the exact negative emotions or thoughts that are causing the problem. While the patient is in a hypnotic state and is focusing on the problems, the PTSD expert tries to stimulate certain meridian energy points that help in eliminating negative thoughts and emotions. The effectiveness of EFT can be gauged from past records, which indicate that the technique has been successfully utilized for treating thousands of cases related to trauma, stress, phobia, addiction, and emotional disorders in children.

If not cured immediately, patients may have to live with PTSD for their entire lives, which in turn may lead to other types of mental disorders as well. Opting for EFT is a better option because its effects are long lasting, no drugs or equipment is used, and patients can apply actually learn the technique on their own and use it anytime they wish to address an emotional imbalance that might occur due to the stresses of day-to-day life. It is also important to mention that the Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT also works well in all cases irrespective of the exact causes of the post traumatic stress disorder.
