Persistent Back Pain: Reasons Your Mattress May Be Why You Hurt So Much

You spend a considerable part of your life laying in bed sleeping, so it makes a lot of sense to try and find a mattress that is going to help promote a comfortable and restful sleep, by giving you the support you need to help reduce or eliminate pain.

A good starting point in your quest to find the right one for you is to check out Mattress-Guides.net and it would also be a good idea to identify what to look for in a new mattress, especially if your existing one turns out to be a factor contributing to your persistent back pain.

Many causes of back pain:

There are many different causes of back pain, so it is not always necessarily just that one thing in particular which is the source of the problem.

It can often be a process of elimination in your quest to get to the root of the problem and work out what it is that is causing you to experience back pain on a regular basis. Your current mattress could turn out to be guilty of contributing to your issues, and it is worth asking yourself a few questions about how comfortable you are and how restful a sleep you manage to get every night.

A good clue can be gleaned from how you feel when you first wake up in the morning. If you feel back pain when you first come around from your sleep, but can manage to stretch out that pain after about 10-15 minutes of exercise, this can be taken as a potential sign that your mattress is not doing you any favors.

Struggling to get comfortable throughout the night and tossing and turning, could well turn out to be a big clue that your mattress is not right for you too, and your body is trying to tell you that.

Lack of support

Your back needs a good level of support and it also needs that support in all of the right places, so it clearly stands to reason that if your mattress is failing to give that support, you are more likely to experience uncomfortable sleep and back pain when you wake up.

We all tend to adopt our own sleep position and these default preferences can make it a bit of a challenge to find a suitable mattress that is just right for the way you go to sleep.

It sometimes pays to start off with what you might term as a “Goldilocks” approach to finding a suitable mattress, which means finding one that is not too hard and not too soft, but just right.

The reason why this might help you to make the right pick, is that if you pick a mattress that turns out to be too firm for you, it could potentially accentuate your pressure points and cause you to suffer a certain amount of misalignment. On the flip side, if you choose a mattress that is too soft, it will allow your body to sink too much, which can lead to a poor posture and subsequent back pain as the result.

What you are ultimately trying to achieve when shopping for a mattress, is to find one that makes you feel like you are almost floating and feeling like the support is in equal measure all over your body.

Tackle your back pain with a new mattress

If you have had your existing mattress for a number of years, there is every chance that it might be time to get it changed, especially if you are experiencing regular back pain when you wake up, and don’t really enjoy a restful sleep.

There is a good chance that a new mattress will make quite a big difference to your back pain at night, especially if you choose wisely.

It can be easy to be driven by the price tag when choosing something like a mattress, but when you consider just how many hours you will spend lying down on it, it really should be viewed as an investment to better sleep and posture, rather than simply buying something to sleep on.

If you really want to try and tackle your back pain and wake up feeling well rested, one way to do that would be to update and upgrade your mattress.

Persistent back pain is no fun, so it makes sense to try and tackle that problem by considering buying a new mattress.
