Specialty Stores in Demand for Non-Toxic Items Like Baby Organic Cotton Clothing

Organic cotton clothing is slowly but steadily gaining the attention of consumers, who are becoming increasingly aware about environmental issues and the effect it can have on their lives.

While manufacturing organic clothes, only those materials are used that are sourced from organic farms. Such farms do not use chemical substances such as pesticides and fertilizers that enter the food chain and lead to the toxicity of the final product.

Apart from using organic inputs, organic cloth manufactures also use environment-friendly methods of production that help in avoiding chemicals such as strong chemical bleaches and metallic dyes. These chemicals are highly toxic and remain on the textiles even after undergoing multiple wash cycles at the manufacturing plant.

These chemicals can easily lead to allergies in adults and are considered quite toxic for babies who often have a habit of chewing their clothes. Toxic chemicals can cause a rash on a baby's skin or lead to other allergic reactions. By using baby organic cotton clothing, consumers can ensure that their babies are protected from the harmful effects of toxic chemicals.

In the United States, organic products are certified by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). The department has set standards for growing cotton plants at organic farms that need to be strictly followed for getting the required certification. Consumers need to be aware that in order to carry the USDA Organic logo, the product must be certified by an inspector or agent appointed by the USDA.

The USDA Organic logo is the basic standard that determines the authenticity of organic clothes and ensures that the clothes are free from toxic chemical substances. Many international organizations also claim to certify organic clothes, but their certifications are not that reliable because it is very difficult to check the authenticity of cotton fibers, which is often sourced from countries such as China, India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkey. These countries may not have any legal standards for organic products, making it quite impossible for international firms to check the authenticity of cotton fibers grown in these countries.

Organic clothes sold at an organic cotton store offer multiple benefits to consumers. Firstly, they are protected from the toxic chemical substances, which in the long run can lead to the development of fatal diseases such as cancer. Secondly, by opting for organic clothes, they are creating a demand for organic clothes, which in turn encourages organic farming.

This way, consumers are indirectly helping environmental agencies in reducing the dependence on toxic chemical substances. Any reduction in the use of toxic substances will ultimately reduce the percentage of toxicity in the surrounding environment such as air, water, and soil, which is good for the consumers and for the future of their children. By opting for organic cotton clothing, consumers are not only safeguarding their present but also the lives of the upcoming generations.

I know from first hand that is a great way to naturally alleviate some skin conditions. That is an easy call since conventional methods of cotton production use such harsh chemicals. I have heard some varying numbers on the amount, but everyone agrees the chemicals just are bad for the earth and us. "Traditional cotton production also attributes to 25% of worldwide insecticide use and 10% of worldwide pesticide use." This is a nice site that has organic clothing > Organic Clothing.

Did you know that to create one traditional cotton T-shirt it takes about three pounds of fertilizer and 500 gallons of water, according to the Crop Life America/American Crop Protection Association? The type of dye matters also. Buy a pigment dyed shirt as they are done in lower water temps and does not require salt as it absorbs at a higher rate. The dye stays on the garment and doesn't wash out into the environment in the same way. I love shirts that are dyed after manufacture as less dye is needed, less energy is used, and also less water. It is great if you can get a garment made with recycled fabric clippings. More and more companies are moving in this direction.

Clothes with natural colors that are not dyed are the best for those with sensitive skin or infants. This would include those that are colored because the fiber itself produces the hue of color.
