Foods that look healthy and yet are not, make sure to avoid them

As a person conscious about your health, you might decide to only consume foods that are healthy to your body. Unfortunately you may not be aware that some of the food that are supposedly healthy, in reality, are not. They may contain too much calories on even bad cholesterol. Here is a list of the food you should avoid if you care about your health.

Caesar Salad

Generally salad is made of vegetables. Vegetables are known to be healthy. The problem is the dressing of the salad can be full of unhealthy stuff. One small bowl of Caesar salad contains 300 to 400 calories and 30 grams of fat. Not too good for your health.

Fresh smoothies

In theory, fresh smoothies are supposed to be made of a blend of fresh fruits. That is not always the case when you buy a smoothie at the store. Those ones may contain as much as 80 grams of sugar and 350 calories. The worst part is they may not be made out of fresh fruits but rather fruit concentrates. They are so much loaded with sweeteners and ice cream that one can compare them to milkshakes. It may be a better idea to make your own fresh smoothies at home.

Sugar free foods

It is true that sugar free foods contain much less calories. So you may think you are not supposed to put on weight if you keep feeding on them. That is where you are wrong. A research has shown that people who rely on sugar free food to lose weight end up overeating anyway. So the end result is that you will still put on weight as you eat more.

The fact is artificial sweeteners don’t raise your core body temperature like it is supposed to with normal table sugar. The direct consequence is that you feel like eating more. The more you eat, the more weight you put on. Always make sure you control the amount of calories you take in.

Low-fat Yogurt

Who doesn’t love yogurt? This food is known to be rich in protein and calcium. It is good for the bones. In a case where it is said to be a low-fat yogurt, you might think it is safe. That is not always the case. Depending on the brand, it may be loaded with a huge amount of sugar. Some brands have as much as 30 grams of fructose.

If you can make your own yogurt at home, all the better. That way you can control what goes in and in which amount.

Banana chips

It is always advised to consume fruits and vegetables for good health. That obviously includes bananas. They are rich in vitamins. That doesn’t mean you should deep them in oil before eating. An ounce of banana chips contain as much as 8 grams of saturated fat. That can be compared to the fat content of a fast food hamburger. It is better to avoid frying your bananas.

As you can see not all foods are as safe as you thought. It is important to be careful about what goes inside your body. It is always advised to prepare your own food at home. That way you know what goes in. When it comes to food you buy outside, make sure to buy from a source you trust.
