You can squeeze some lemon juice over the veggies. A real treat is to mix lemon juice with hemp butter and add a fresh ground ginger. Eaten this way complex veggies are excellent and they can also be served chilled and added to your salads.
Of course, you don't always have to raw foods like salads to add low carb diet foods to your menu. Other foods that are ideal are soups. They often contain many vegetables, are low in fat, and the broth is rich in nutrition. An all time favorite are homemade soups, such as chicken and hearty veggie soup. If you are a vegetarian you can make fresh tomato soup, or a variety of bean or lentil soups. Forgo the creamy soups, or those with lots of cheese.
Of course we also want to have on our list different types of snack foods! Some great choices are celery filled with peanut butter. Other healthy snack food selections may include soy nuts, raw almonds, and other types of nuts such as walnuts.
Seeds have a lot of nutritional value. Like seeds from the pumpkin that are roasted and lightly salted. There are also low carb food products specifically designed for fast and healthy snacking that do not contain high amounts of sugar.
There are so many excellent choices you can include in your list of low carbohydrate foods. In your daily menu incorporate at least five to eight servings of fruits and veggies into your diet. Watch adding to many carbohydrate rich foods especially if snacking on foods high in carbohydrates because they will cause a rapid rise in your blood glucose. The carbs are then converted, via insulin, into dreaded fat which is stored in the adipose, or the fatty tissue.
Another tip, is to make a list of foods you like when eating out that are prepared with locarb ingredients. Keep your list handy so when you are heading to the store you won't be tempted to add foods that are not on your list to your cart.
