Using essential oils for herpes outbreaks - Some people get excellent results treating herpes with essential oils. There are a few things to be aware of, if you decide to go this route. First, be sure you are using pure oils with no additives or filler oils. Additives may actually irritate delicate tissues. Also, make sure the oils are chemographically tested for potency because many aromatherapy grade oils are processed with high heat or extracted in ways that alter or diminish the medicinal value though the smell may still seem lovely.

And finally, always dilute oils for application and do a patch test on some small area of the body (such as the underside of the upper arm, about 24 hours before use if you have any known sensitivities to essential oils or have sensitive skin in general. For herpes, a blend of 2 drops of peppermint essential oil and two drops of lavender, diluted in a quarter-sized dollop of olive oil in the palm of the hand, makes a very soothing application for herpes and can sometimes halt an outbreak if applied during the tingling stage, or predomal stage before the blisters appear.

STD - Facts about Chlamydia

What is Chlamydia? Chlamydia is caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) and is spread by vaginal, anal and sometimes oral sex with an infected person. An infected pregnant woman can also spread the infection to her newborn during a vaginal delivery. Chlamydia can be spread from person to person whether or not symptoms are present. The risk of contracting chlamydia is increased when a person has multiple sexual partners, having sex with a high-risk partner (someone who has sex with multiple partners), engaging in unprotected sex and being sexually active before age 18.

More than 80% of women and 50% of men with Chlamydia do not produce symptoms, so people who do not know they are infected can unknowingly pass the bacterium to others. When symptoms do occur in males, chlamydia is characterized by frequent, painful or burning urination and lower back pain. A clear watery urethral discharge in a male is a sure sign of chlamydia infection.

In females, symptoms are rare, but some females experience a white vaginal discharge that resembles cottage cheese, a burning sensation when urinating, itching, and painful intercourse. Chlamydia may spread through the reproductive tract and develop into inflammation of the uterine (Fallopian) tubes, which increases the risk of ectopic pregnancy and sterility.

They are usually transmitted by direct skin-to-skin contact during vaginal, oral, or anal sex with someone who has the virus. We also have rare cases where both herpes and warts are spread through personal effects of an infected person especially clothing, like towels which has come into contact with the infected area. Precautionary measures therefore should be taken into consideration when storing or laundering the garments of an infected person. Launder their things separately. This may not work at 100% to keep the infection at bay but for sure will reduce the chance of having it spread further to unsuspecting persons. There has been a link between genital herpes and genital warts showing that you could be suffering from either of them and not differentiate. This is so because the signs and symptoms of each are similar. All the same it depends on the strain of each virus and of course the general well being of a person at the time of the infection. Some of the shared signs and symptoms of both herpes and genital warts could be, itching around the vagina or penis area, discharge from the vagina or penis, strong odors coming from the vagina, a small blister around the genital area, experiencing pain either during sex, when urinating, or in the pelvic area, flu like symptoms such as swollen glands, fever, headache, and or body aches. If you are diagnosed with an STD and are not able to cope with the trauma of having to deal with it in secret, look for a social group or better still talk to your physician. Let's remove the notion that speaking about STDs is a taboo. If herpes and genital warts are left untreated, they can become cancerous. By coming out and talking openly about STDs, it will save you the agony of having to deal with physical, emotional and mental torture that come with it.
