My daughter has eczema on the back of her hand. Does having wood heat in the house cause it to get worse? could it be because the humidity is so low with our type of heat?

Dear Vincent, Eczema is a broad category referring to skin problems which are chronic and may have variable causes such as all kinds of stress, food and skin contact allergies, dust and mites, fabric dyes or laundry detergents, fragrances, and extreme weather conditions, just to name a few causes. It has been shown that extremely dry or low humid climates can exacerbate or worsen the condition. It may not be the cause, but certainly could make the condition more unbearable. You might want to consider a humidifier for your home or at least for her bedroom. Hope this helps.
