What you put into your body has a direct influence on not only how you feel, but how you look.
Heavily processed, fattening, and sugary foods and drinks will leave you feeling and looking sluggish and drab.
A diet that is well balanced and has lots of fruits and vegetables in it will give you energy and give your skin a natural glow.
Antioxidants Benefit Skin
Your skin will look younger, more supple, and have a beautiful natural glow when you regularly include fruit and vegetables in your daily diet.
Beta-carotene, lutein, lycopene, selenium, and vitamins A, C, and E are all antioxidants that are found in fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry, and grain. Antioxidants repair damage to tissue and help prevent future damage from occurring. They also slow down and even block the effect of free radicals by fortifying cells against damage.
Antioxidants protect the skin from the inside from the harmful effects of the sun’s rays. Antioxidants are also effective at providing you with anti-aging bonuses: they help the body repair and rejuvenate itself with cell and tissue growth, including reducing and preventing wrinkles and fine lines from appearing.
Fruits & Vegetables for Healthy Skin
There are endless benefits to the fruits and vegetables you can incorporate into your diet. Here are a few popular choices and how they help give you natural, healthy skin:
Strawberries: This is a great source source of antioxidants. Strawberries also contain vitamins A and C, which protect the skin from damage and help fight against aging.
Oranges: Citrus fruits are great sources of vitamin C. Vitamin C helps the body produce collagen, which is what helps prevent wrinkles and sagging. The antioxidant vitamin C also helps preserve the body’s vitamin E levels, which in turn helps protect the body’s cells from damage.
Apples: This is an effective source for lending to a natural toning of the skin. Apple calories contain pectin, a starch that helps heal and prevent acne.
Carrots and celery: Vegetables are big sources of fibre, which enhances digestion. This keeps the body clean of harmful preservatives and keeps the skin healthy and clean.
Natural Food Juice Recipe
Try to use organic and locally produced fruits and vegetables when you can. Depending on where you live, this may vary during different times of the year. Not only are you supporting your local farmers, but you reduce your ecological footprint.
You’ll need a blender, a cutting board, and a small knife for this recipe. The fruits and vegetables for the juice are:
- 10 strawberries, washed, trimmed, and diced
- 3 large oranges, washed, peeled, and diced
- 3 small stalks of celery, washed and finely diced
- 10 baby carrots, washed and finely diced
- 2 cups 100% apple juice
Add the apple juice to your blender. Add the diced strawberries and blend until smooth. Next, add the diced oranges and blend well again. Add the celery and blend until smooth. Remember to ensure the pieces are small so they do not clog the blades of the blender. Add the carrots, and blend until all small chunks are gone. Your natural food juice is done! Serve and enjoy!
