Hi Toria, I enjoyed your article very much. I just wanted to add that I have used the essential oils of spruce, pine, cypress and rosemary with success on my husband and brother. I layered them on the scalp at bedtime and then they washed their hair in the morning.

Hi! does anybody know where we can get all these oil's from? Is there a particular type of store that sells them? Also I have heard great things about Saw Palmetto, but is that any different from Saw Palmetto Tincture (where can I purchase from)? I understand that the Saw Palmetto is best to be purchased in form of liquid as opposed to pills. Can anybody that has tried Saw Palmetto shed some light on on this?

I will tell you that I injected my scalp with Cortisone and that worked very well, however, after I stopped my two treatments and my hair re-grew I stopped the injections and my hair started falling out again. I want to try a more natural way before I go back to injecting my scalp with Cortisone again.

-Thanks

Hi Toria,

I am a 32 year old male. I've been losing quite a bit of hair for the last two years, especially at the crown and it has gone bald. I also have itching problem in my head and I was diagnosed for fungal infection of the roots. The itching is still continuing. Is it possible to cure it and is it possible to grow hair once again in my crown?

I have a question. I find this page so helpful. I'm using a shampoo that helps to reduce the number of hairs that fall out. It really helped me, but it isn't doing anything for my already bald patches. I'm curious, could I add some drops of rosemary essential oil in my shampoo? I mean in the whole shampoo bottle (250 ml) and than shake it. I'm afraid that it will cause an allergic reaction. I read that essential oils can cause a reaction if there is no base to dilute with them. If not then how many drops should I put in the whole shampoo bottle?

I have been losing my hair gradually since the birth of my 4th child and now its so noticeable at the front and sides of my scalp. Do you think it is the scalp that is the reason for the hair shafts falling out as I have noticed that its become very dry scaly and sometimes itchy? I am at my wits end with it and will try this recipe as it's ingredients are within my home. Thank you and I hope and pray it works.

Hi Aaron,

I have not tried Toria's recipe. But this is a very easy and inexpensive remedy to try. Just get some quality shampoo that doesn't have sodium laureth sulfate in it, (a good organic and natural shampoo) Then add the trea tree oil. Make the rinse and keep in in your shower. Use the rinse as a final rinse and rub it in a bit, then rinse off. Also, acupressure may help, too. Another method we have heard about is > Natural Remedy for Hair Loss

Hi, I actually had some questions, I am a little bit of a skeptic. Before you started using this method was your hair noticeably thinning, or was it something only you noticed? When you say to use the rinse mixture after you shampoo, are you still able to run water over head after you use the mixture? My hair is balding very fast, although I am not bald yet it is still very noticeable. So I was wondering if I should even bother with this because I have wasted sooooo much money already on other remedies.
Also, my rapid hair loss is also due to my underactive thyroid and VERY high stress levels, so do you think I will respond to this very well? Ok last question... the last time I got acupuncture the lady said that my back was a flaming red color which mean that the person is very stressed correct? Should I try doing acupuncture again because it almost scares me?

Sorry for all the questions but I just had to ask.

Thank you,
Aaron.

Hi, Toria-

I've been getting acupuncture treatments for thinning hair and I've also been using a Chinese herbal stimulating shampoo, as well as taking Chinese herbs.

Would you recommend this treatment in addition to all that, or did you find the acupuncture and herbs unnecessary? Thanks.

Sue, you would add 8 to 10 drops of essential tea tree oil to the amount of shampoo that is normally recommended. Some people use a little less, others a little more. I imagine it would be safe to say between a teaspoon or two. If you were to use more than that it would probably be too much shampoo for your hair.

Hi Glen, Good question. I assume you're asking about the hot oil treatment, as the shampoo will remove the gel as it works. While the oil treatment is good for the hair, it is primarily for the scalp, so unless the gel is very thick and glossy, and applied directly to your scalp, interference should be minimal.

Do I need to leave my hair without any gel products etc. for this treatment to be effective or do the gel products interfere? Thanks

Hi Josh, Thank you for your question. I continue to use the shampoo and rinse every time I wash my hair. I used the hot oil treatment twice a week, until my hair started growing back in, in all areas. Now I only use the hot oil once or twice a month.
